Monument Valley Arial

An awesome flight on Southwest Airlines from Las Vegas to Baltimore, took us over Lake Mead, the Grand Canyon, Grand Staircase Escalante, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Mesa Verde, the four corners, Ship Rock, Cortez CO, the Rockies in their autumn splendor and later the Appalachians in their glory! The Kentucky-Nebraska region was clouded over. Two iPhone 4 images give a hint of the sight.

This gives a hint of the fabulous colors and the amazing landscape that is the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. The most well-known parts of the park are in the upper third held in the eastward (left) facing "U". Only a short way to the east is Medicine Hat and The Goosenecks. From 35,000' I saw more color deep in the Goosenecks than I have ever seen before.

  • I tried an iPhone HDR snap on this image. It's been tweaked a bit in Photoshop but nothing major. The most recognizable area of the park is in the upper-left third where you can see the Mittens and a hind of the roads.
